How the Nisab works for silver
The silver Nisab is 200 dirhams, which is 612.36 g of pure silver in modern weight. Because silver is far cheaper than gold, this Nisab is a much lower amount of money. That is why Hanafi scholars use it as the threshold for cash and mixed wealth: more people qualify, and more reaches the poor.
Mind the purity: most silver jewellery is not pure. If it is stamped 925, enter 92.5%. The calculator counts only the pure silver content.
